The idea behind this episode, which we'll do at the end of every month, is that we want to reveal everything we're working on, what's working well, what problems we're facing and where we see opportunities going forward. I'll share details on specific projects, my major insights from the podcast guests, and our goals for the next month as I'm a big believer that sharing your goals makes you more accountable. If you want to join us in sharing your own goals, why don't you head over to insidepropertyinvesting.com/update1 and tell us in the comments what you're working on? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this property update as well.

Vicki is a hugely down to earth believer of the phrase 'If I can do it, so can you'. Don't let that handful of words make it sound easy though. After her redundancy in 2006, she had to learn quickly about the value of her time and how to maximise the return on her investments through leverage.
She bought her first investment property in 2008, and has since developed her skills to the stage where she sources properties for other investors.
And with a background in university lecturing, she is obviously a natural when it comes to passing on her knowledge. With 3 books under her belt and a property training arm to her company, she was recognised by the telegraph in 2013 as one of the 25 most influential people in the UK property market.

Richard's first property investment was in the mid 90s, and is still his biggest regret as he sold it less than a year later. His second 'first investment' was in the mid noughties, after his eureka moment in a pub beer garden.
After a relatively short period of time, he's resolved his poor financial position resulting from divorce, debt, high expenses and no home ownership, and is now in a place where he could retire if he wanted to. He primarily focuses on adding value to property and recycling his funds to grow his investing.
He shares his wealth of knowledge willingly through forums, his own blog and most recently, his own book.

Andy's start in property was almost by accident, after trying a few jobs that didn't work for him, but after 20 years as a successful chartered surveyor, he's clearly found his niche.
During that time he's also been investing in property, and has built up a portfolio worth £1.5million that delivers a positive cashflow of £50,000 a year.
He left the job 3 and a half years ago to set up Urban Village Property Investments, which offers sourcing consultancy, and spends his time between this, joint venture projects, and Grace Kelly Churchill Property Ventures, which is another JV portfolio investment that focusses on larger developments and HMOs.

Paul started his career developing a wealth of planning and development experience as the head of land acquisition for Barratt Developments. He then ventured on his own and set up Millbank group almost 15 years ago, sourcing development sites for others, and where it suited him, developing them himself.
The 2008 recession was a bit of a bumpy ride as lenders were more concerned about themselves rather than their clients, but he survived and now spends his time living in Spain and commuting back to the UK to keep an eye on his property projects.

Nicole's property journey has done nothing short of skyrocket since she left Goldman Sachs as an investment banker in 2009. She'd been an accidental landlord for a few years whilst working in New York, but upon her return to the UK she renovated the once tenanted property and fell in love with the process. She'd finally found something where she could work the hours that suited her family life with three kids, whilst still contributing significantly to the household income.
Her first major project was a 4,000 square feet Grade 2 listed vicarage - not something she'd recommend to anyone else as their first project - and she now works alongside an experienced JV partner on some seriously impressive high-end central london conversions, construction projects, and renovations.

In what he describes as the ‘best worst experience of his life’ he realised that it was his home that saved him from bankruptcy. Through extensive research and development, he discovered the robust residential letting model of premium ‘Houses of Multiple Occupancy’ for young professionals and set about building his own portfolio. He then focussed on his passion for mentoring others and decided to franchise the tried, tested and proven business model to others.
Platinum Property Partners was launched in 2007 and has since become the UK’s fastest growing premium franchise in UK history. Being registered blind at the age of 8 might sound like enough to put most people off pursuing self-employment, but with a natural flourish for music Steve took his first attempt at building a business as a piano tuner in the 1980s. Plenty of work followed, but he quickly realised the difference between being self-employed and building a scalable business.
It was around this time that he bought his first property, and has watched it increase in value from £34,000 to £360,000 over 30 years. With his pension plummeting, he decided to invest in his own personal development with property education and has since built a portfolio of property worth £1.3million pounds that generates almost £70,000 income per year.

Jason originally qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and worked as a planning consultant on large commercial development projects. He started investing in property in 1991 alongside his job but had only one property up until 1997 when he started investing more seriously.
He became a full time investor in 2000 and built his business rapidly to around 200 properties within 7 years. He also bought and sold more than 30 properties in that period. The credit crunch did prove very challenging but he successfully steered his business through that difficult time and still owns and manages a portfolio of nearly 200 properties which he is now expanding using creative financial strategies.
